A Winter Wedding At Scone Palace, Perth | Mark & Gemma

It may have been a cold winter’s day at -8ºC, but it was a day full of love and warmth. The love of two young people celebrating their commitment to each other, the love of family and the love of friends. Mark and Gemma have known each other since their schooldays and Mark proposed to Gemma whilst on a cruise with family on the Sea of Independence. I met them a couple of months later at a wedding show and over the last year it has been a pleasure getting to know Mark, Gemma and their families as well as photographing their wedding.

When telling the story of a couple’s special day I try to use photography to show the feel of the day. It would be very easy to photograph the wedding rings in their boxes or with a nice background but photographing them in the snow tells so much more about the day.

I was lucky to have a second photographer with me helping out on the day, Linda Johnstone, who travelled up from Brighton despite all the obstacles put in her way by the weather – but that is a whole other story! This photograph of Mark was taken by Linda.

I mentioned earlier about the family love on the day and this is a beautiful moment between a very proud Father and his beautiful daughter when he saw Gemma as a bride for the first time. The memory of this moment could so easily fade with time but through photography it will be cherished for the rest of their lives.

An emotional moment between a Father and the bride

There were so many poignant moments at Scone Palace that will be shared and remembered through the photography. Moments that at the time were not shared by everyone but can now be cherished by all the family.

Scone Palace is a fantastic wedding venue with a great atmosphere. It is famous as the rightful home of the Stone of Destiny and the crowning site of Scottish Kings. A very special place to get married.
