This week I have chosen an image from Colin & Carolyn’s pre-wedding photography session earlier in the year on the beach at St Andrews in Fife. Pre-wedding or engagement photography sessions are a great way for clients to get to know me and for me to get to know them. These photography sessions also help clients relax about their wedding photography, giving them one thing less to worry about on their wedding day.

Freedom Classics is a photography shoot for Irving of Freedom Hairdressing in Dundee. He wanted to create a set of images that would show the great work of the salon. The day started with make up, hair and styling, starting at the salon in Dock Street, Dundee. When the styling was complete we moved over to the City Quay area of Dundee for the photography session. This is a great area for photography with a variety of interesting backgrounds, although on this day we had to find shelter from the wind so as not to mess up the models hair. Following this it was time to go to the Apex Hotel for a restyle and more photography.
A selection of the images have been printed and framed for display in the salon as well as being used for marketing.
I really enjoy sessions like this as it gives me a chance to stretch myself and try new things. The models are all local girls, who are not professionals, and they did a great job.
Mount Vesuvius and the Bay of Naples | Image of the WeekDecember 10th, 2010Image of the week is back with a landscape photograph taken in Italy a couple of years ago. Image of the week is back with a landscape photograph taken in Italy a couple of years ago. This photograph was taken at sunrise from our hotel balcony overlooking the Bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvius. I really like the simplicity of this image and the subtle colours. I find it a very peaceful image and the colours of sunrise give the photograph a warm feeling. What do you think?
Italy is one of my favourite countries to visit, and I would love to photograph destination weddings in Italy, particularly on the Amalfi Coast and around the Florence area. I really enjoy photographing destination weddings, and had a great experience photographing Jo & Dean’s wedding in Gradil, Portugal. My own wedding was a destination wedding – we were married in Sorrento – and for us it was the perfect opportunity to have an intimate wedding in a beautiful location, as well as a great holiday with family and friends in the run up to the wedding day itself. It is certainly an option I would recommend.
Winter Scenes in AngusDecember 7th, 2010With all the recent cold weather and snow I had to go have a little play with my camera. When I first took an interest in photography, more years ago than I care to remember, it was landscape photography that caught my imagination. With all the recent cold weather and snow I had to go have a little play with my camera. When I first took an interest in photography, more years ago than I care to remember, it was landscape photography that caught my imagination. Running my own business I don’t often make much time to go and ‘play’ with my camera so it was nice to get out for some landscape photography, even if it was just in my village. The winter weather has also been bringing a few extra visitors to the garden.
I hope that you enjoyed seeing a different side to my photography. Would you like to see more landscape and travel photography here? Let me know your thoughts in the comments section…
Stay warm and safe
